Kaslo may have been shaped by its rich mining history but it is defined by the community spirit of its citizens who are as diverse as the home grown economy they sustain.

Small business entrepreneurs provide an impressive array of services for a community primarily dependent on resource based industries and tourism.  Although many of Kaslo's citizens were originally drawn to the area by the stunning scenery and four season recreational opportunities, most will tell you that it is the sense of community that keeps them here.

Kaslo boasts over 60 active community organizations and an impressive array of public services.  Most are supported by volunteers who give freely of their time and energy.  Whether clearing trails, safeguarding Kaslo's heritage, writing grant applications or organizing festivals, this tireless group of citizens understand that buildings do not make a village!

Kaslo is a community that above all, loves to celebrate! Festivals and events highlight the rich history of the area, the arts and culture unique to the community and the incredible beauty of the natural surroundings. Many of these annual events draw attendees from across the country and beyond and all are made possible through the efforts of large groups of community volunteers who selflessly donate their time and energy year after year.
