ATV Trails

a. Turn left at flashing red light in Kaslo
b. Proceed up the hill and turn left at the flashing red light onto Hwy 31A to New Denver.
c. Set odometer to 0 and go approximately 10 (?) kms. Watch for entrance to Mt. Buchanan Forest Service Road on your right.
d. Park in parking area just after entrance.
e. Proceed up the service road and bear right at the first junction.
f. Bear left at the next junction and follow signs for Buchanan Lookout.

a. Follow directions for Mount Buchanan.
b. Park and proceed up the service road and bear left at the first junction.
c. Bear left at next main road junction.

a. Turn left at flashing red light in Kaslo
b. Proceed up the hill and turn right onto Hwy. 31A (North Marine Drive) toward Meadow Creek.
c. Set odometer to 0 and travel 39.5 km (24.5 miles) to Meadow Creek Road (just before Drifter's Restaurant).
d. Turn left on Meadow Creek Road. Go 2.9 km (1.8 miles) and bear right on Deception Creek Road (the other fork goes to Spawning Channel).
e. Cross over a wooden bridge.
f. 0.7 kms. after the bridge, turn left onto Meadow Mountain Road.
g. You can park at the junction or shortly after turning left onto Meadow Mountain Rd. there is a parking area (look for large storage building on left - park on right side of road.)
h. Follow Meadow Mountain Road for approx. 11 kms. and turn right on narrower road - marked as Meadow Mountain Road. If you continue straight you end up at a large turnaround with gorgeous views of surrounding mountains.
i. Continue 11 kms. up Meadow Mt. Rd. to picnic area where there are outhouses available. After leaving picnic area proceed up steep grade and bear right at first junction. Follow road to end.

a. At the flashing red light in Kaslo turn left onto A Ave.
b. Toward the top of the hill turn right on North Marine Drive (Hwy. 31) toward Meadow Creek and set your odometer to 0.
c. At 28 km you will pass the village of Lardeau.
d. At 34.5 kms. or (21.4 miles) turn right on Argenta Road toward Argenta and Johnson's Landing.
e. Cross the Lardeau River and proceed for approx. 1 km on a dirt road.
f. At the three way junction turn left toward Glacier Creek Provincial Park.
g. Proceed approximately 7 kms. and watch for Lavina Forest Service Road marker on your right.
h. Turn right onto Lavina FSR and follow until you reach a large parking area. Unload your ATV here and follow road to Fire Lookout at top. This road is very steep in areas with lots of switchbacks. Elevation is 7280 feet or 2240 meters.
i. GPS at parking lot is: N 50.279807 / W 116.915245

a. Follow directions for Lavina Lookout. Go past Lavina FSR and park at the Glacier Creek Campground to unload ATV.
b. Continue straight on the road and pass through Rainbow's End Ranch. Watch for free ranging animals.
c. 4 kms. past the ranch cross a bridged tributary of Glacier Creek.
d. 2 kms. after bridge you reach a fork in the road. Go straight. Do not take MacBeth Icefield trailhead.
e. 14 kms. after fork you reach a signed junction. Turn right and go towards Jumbo Pass or turn left toward Monica Meadows. Either direction leads to the trailheads where you can park and then hike. If you follow the road to Jumbo Pass you can also go further, past the trailhead along an overgrown two lane dirt road to a small turnaround with great views.

a. At 4 way flashing light in Kaslo set odometer to 0 and turn left.
b. Proceed up the hill and turn right onto Hwy. 31A (North Marine Drive) toward Meadow Creek
c. Go straight through Meadow Creek, past Drifters restaurant.
d. At fork in road stay left toward Trout Lake (do not take Duncan Dam road).
e. Follow unpaved road toward Trout Lake
f. When odometer reads 72.2 km watch for road on right (it will be shortly after the 47 km marker on the road).
g. Turn right onto road and immediately cross over a small bridge.
h. Park and unload after bridge.
i. Set odometer on ATV to 0.
j. At 7.2 km stay to the left.
k. At 9.1 km stay left.
l. At 10.8 km stay right.
m. At 12.6 km stay right
n. At 13.8 km stay left
o. At 25.2 km stay left.
p. Follow road to top of Healy Creek.

a. Follow directions for Healy Creek.
b. Go past the entrance to Healy Creek and keep going until you cross a bridge over the Lardeau River. Right on the other side of the bridge is a small camping area and a viewing platform for the spawning channel. Park on the left of the road and unload the ATV.
c. Proceed a short distance further up the road and watch for first road off to the right. This goes to America Creek. Follow road all the way to the top.

a. At the flashing red light in Kaslo turn left onto A Ave.
b. Proceed up the hill to the flashing red light and turn left onto Hwy. 31A.
c. Drive approximately 39 km (24 miles) to Sandon and turn left at the Sandon junction.
d. Follow the Sandon road for 6 km (3.7 miles) into Sandon. You can usually find a place to park and unload at the junction before turning right and crossing the bridge over Carpenter Creek to where the main historical buildings are located.
e. Once you have unloaded, drive past the main buildings and bear right just past old train care to head up the Forest Service road to Idaho Peak. This is a very well maintained road.
f. There are two parking areas at the top. For the first parking area turn left at the junction at the top or proceed straight for the second parking area. Both have footpaths leading to the Look Out Tower but the hike from the second parking lot is a bit further.
