Shopping the way it used to be...Heritage inspired storefronts, one-of-a-kind shops, and friendly, personalized service - this is shopping in Kaslo. Enjoy the relaxing atmosphere of our downtown core while you explore clothing boutiques, craft, flower and gift shops, museums and art galleries. Whether looking for fine art, sporting goods or quality linens and home décor items, Kaslo has it all and more. When you need a break from shopping, grab a freshly made scone or an ice cream cone and relax on a bench while enjoying spectacular views of Kootenay Lake and the surrounding mountains. Follow up your shopping with a stroll around town for a true flavour of the history that so defines Kaslo. Tour the S.S. Moyie, the world's oldest intact passenger sternwheeler. The Moyie serviced the villages along Kootenay Lake from 1898 until 1957 and was the last operating passenger sternwheeler in Canada when she was retired. Beautifully restored, the Moyie is now designated as a National Historic Site, and is the oldest remaining vessel of her type in Canada. The Moyie also houses the Kaslo Visitor Centre and gift shop. |

Have your picture taken on the steps of Kaslo City Hall. Built in 1898 and designated a National Historic Site in 1984, this building is one of only two surviving wood framed City Halls still in operation in Canada and the oldest remaining municipal hall on the BC mainland.
Visit the Langham Cultural Centre, a restored Victorian hotel and winner of the Park and Tilford Trophy from Heritage Canada for outstanding contribution to heritage conservation in Canada. The Langham houses the Japanese Canadian Museum; a self guided archival display which is open to the public seven days a week. The Langham Gallery displays and sells the works of many local Kootenay artists and the Langham theatre hosts theatrical and musical events throughout the year. If you are staying in Kaslo for a few days you will also appreciate that we have all the amenities of a larger center including grocery stores, a meat shop, drug store, laundromat, liquor store, credit union and post office. You can even get your hair done or have a workout in our local fitness studio. Come visit Kaslo - it is worth the drive! |
